Internet 8 seems to be having trouble in accepting long search strings due to the way that IE8 handles forms. If you have a have a long complex search string currently IE8 only searches the first number of search terms.
The solution within IE8 is to click on the advanced search link on the top of the screen, then select details. You can then paste the full search string into the Query Translation box. Youneed to have already run a search in pubmed before the Query Translation box will appear and delete all the text that's already in the box.
Alternatively you can try another browser if this is a problem.
